In most states of Australia, the local council authority will require evidence that a building design complies with energy efficiency regulations, all before a building can be approved. This requires an energy efficiency rating from an accredited assessor. This is achieved by sending the building plans to the assessor, who performs the calculations and returns the rating to the client, who then passes the rating on to the council.
