The Energy Rating Process
Australian State and Federal Governments are concerned with the
production of greenhouse gases by the burning of fossil fuels in
electricity generation. To limit household energy use in heating and
cooling state governments have introduced minimum construction
requirements. The requirements are regulated at the building approval
stage of the process of constructing a new home.
To
get domestic building approval in most states in Australia the local
council will need to see evidence that the building design complies
with energy efficiency regulations.
In most
states the requirement is to get a rating from an accredited assessor
by sending plans to the assessor who does the calculations and returns
the rating which the client passes on to the council.
The
requirements are differ with each state. Click on your state to know
more about the requirements for getting your house assessed.
