Building Analysis & Simulation
Using simulation, designs can be tried and tested against each other
in the design phase, possible improvements can be suggested, and
problems identified.
Building simulation looks at a number of things like:
- Room temperatures
- Building construction materials.
- Artificial lighting.
- Natural lighting.
- Natural ventilation.
- Air-conditioning.
- Appliances and equipment.
- Number of people and the times they use the building
- Occupants' requirements for temperature control
- Climate location and situation.
Combining
these inputs in a rigorous commercial building simulation package gives
the total amount of energy used by the building - an energy audit.
The energy audit is then used to show which of the building's systems is using the most energy.
Methods to reduce the building's energy usage can then be suggested.
Real Energy and therefore cost savings can be made.
